Meet the characters in our story. The crime and trial are fictional, but the judge and legal staff are real. How might Jimmy’s upbringing, friends, family and other influences have affected his actions?

Dr. Alexander Bair
Dr. Alexander Bair
Court Appointed Psychiatrist

In attempts to mitigate the charges against Jimmy, Dr. Bair was appointed by the defense to evaluate Jimmy’s mental state and determine his culpability. His testimony is only applicable in the sentencing phase of the trial but not admissible in the guilt phase. After speaking with Jimmy, he’s determined that he suffers from PTSD due to the trauma at his previous home. He is also suffering from a dependency on cocaine and depression. All these elements, Dr. Bair determines, factored into his current state. Jimmy functions at a 7th grade level emotionally, is socially immature, and is easily manipulated, something that stems from his longing for familial acceptance.

Dr. Alexander Bair is played by a real child psychiatrist, Dr. Gene Beresin, MD. Dr. Beresin also served as script consultant for the broadcast.
